From 17 to 21 January, the first one-to-one training program forfacultyof vocationalcolleges in Africa was successfully completed. Itwasorganized byWXIT,andco-hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange and Cooperation (CEAIC) and the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (ATUPA) under the guidance of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education. The program is part of the “Future Africa - China-Africa Vocational Education Cooperation Program” and was attended byfacultyfromour cooperative college,the Gert Sibande TVET College in South Africa.
In order to achieve best teaching results, WXIT selected best teachers and provided meticulously-arranged training courses in English at the webinar. The first day of the program began with an online live streaming program themed on“Intelligent Manufacturing, Charming WXIT”, during which the college displayed the beautiful campus to teachers from South African Cooperative colleges, in order to help them learn more about the intelligentmanufacturingmajor and first-class laboratory facilities. Moreover, we focused on demonstrating practical examples of China-South Africa cross-border cultivation of talents receiving vocationaleducations, which werecarried out twice by WXIT andthe South African Department of Higher Education. In the subsequent training sessions,the collegeconductedsuch themed seminars and discussions as“capacity-based talent training program R&D”and“how to make a micro lecture”, with a focus on key problems involved in China-Africa substantial cooperation on technical and vocational education and training, such as the implementation and recognition of talent training program, making and implementation of e-learning, and design and arrangement of remote training. These sessionsfully demonstrated the teaching and research achievements of ourcollegein recent yearsunder the Belt and Roadinitiative, and gained trust and confidence of key teachers from the African side.
In order to promote exchanges and cooperation in vocational education under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) has been commissioned by the International Department of the Ministry of Education to launch the “Future of Africa — a project for China-Africa cooperation on vocational education” in 2021.WXIThas been selected as one of the first 14 pilotcolleges in Chinato carry out this project.Wewill takethis program as an opportunity to take detailed and concrete actions to improve thecultivation of talentsreceiving technical and vocational education and traininginbothChina and Africa, and take the lead with our intelligentmanufacturingstandard. With all these measures, WXIT strives to provide better services for China-invested enterprises developingoverseas, andtoconstantlyexpand international influences of our college.
